Body Art Facilities

Per Tooele County Health Department Health Regulation Reg #10 Body Art Facilities:

4.1 – Body art facilities applying after adoption of this regulation shall submit a scale drawing and floor plan of the proposed facility for a plan review and approval by the Department, as part of the permit application process. All persons applying for a Body Art Facility Permit shall pay a plan review fee as established by the Tooele County Board of Health.

5.1 – No person, firm, partnership, joint venture, association, business trust, corporation or organized group of persons may operate a body art facility or temporary body art facility except with a body art facility permit or temporary body art facility permit from the Department.

5.2 – Any person operating a body art facility shall obtain an annual permit from the Department.

5.3 – The applicant shall pay a reasonable fee as set by the Tooele County Board of Health for each body art facility permit or temporary body art facility permit.

5.4 – A permit for a body art facility or temporary body art facility shall not be transferable from one place or person to another.

In addition to Tooele County Health Department Health Regulation Reg #10 Body Art Facilities, body art facilities operating in Tooele County must comply with Utah Administrative Rule R392-701 Body Art Facility Sanitation.

In order to obtain a Body Art Facility Permit you will need to complete the following:

  1. all body artists must complete a blood borne pathogens course (R392-701-11(1)(a)). The following link is an example of an approved course: http://www.abovetraining.com/bloodborne-pathogens/utah/tooele-county-health-department.
  2. all body artists must complete a first aid course (R392-701-11(1)(b)). The following link is an example of an approved course: https://cpr.heart.org/en/cpr-courses-and-kits/heartsaver/heartsaver-first-aid-training.
  3. provide all certificates of completion for each body artist with your application.
  4. all body artists must provide proof that they have started or completed the Hepatitis B vaccination series (Reg #10 sec 3.2).
  5. complete and submit the Application for Body Art Facility Plan Review.
  6. complete and submit the Application for Body Art Facility Permit.
  7. pay associated fees.

In order to obtain a Temporary Body Art Facility Permit you will need to complete the following:

Temporary body art facilities must meet the requirements set forth in R392-701-9 Specific Health and Sanitation Requirements for a Temporary Body Art Facility and operate for no more than 14 consecutive days.
